In Monday’s National Post, Joseph Brean reported that Khurrum Awan, the chief witness in the BC Human Rights Tribunal hate speech hearing against Maclean’s, has said that Muslims must “demand that right to participate.” He was speaking at a conference of the Canadian Arab Federation. “We have to tell them, you know what, if you’re not going to allow us to do that, there’ll be consequences. You will be taken to the human rights commission, you will be taken to the press council …”
In similar news, Ezra Levant reported Sunday on a visit by high-ranking Pakistani officials to Europe to make their case against free speech. Citing the Daily Times of Pakistan, Mr. Levant reported: “Pakistan will ask the European Union countries to amend laws regarding freedom of expression to prevent offensive incidents such as the printing of blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad … and the production of an anti-Islam film by a Dutch legislator, sources in the Interior Ministry told Daily Times on Saturday.”
