Anti-Christian NS pastor condemns Truro mayor

It is contemptible and disgusting that a Christian pastor would bill sexuality, particularly sexual purity, a matter of “religion” or “ideology” and, therefore in his view, something about which the state should remain neutral. This pastor has embraced fundamentalist humanism as his worldview. His ideological trumpeting doesn’t even have any bearing on the question at hand. It seems that he is just exploiting this controversy to sound off on his own hobby-horse. There is nothing Christian about his morality or political theory. It is sickening that a liberal like this would claim to speak for “fundamental Christianity.” If Mr. Martin wanted to demonstrate a genuine Christian pastor’s perspective, his letter would have been a lot closer in content and sentiment to that of Brenda Davison also reprinted below. With pastors like Mr. Martin, the Church of King Jesus Christ doesn’t need enemies.

Letter: Local pastor weighs in on mayor’s comments

Re: ‘Cruise Control,’ Truro Daily News, Dec. 9.

I wish to apologize to the gay community for Truro Mayor Bill Mills’ comments on behalf of fundamental Christianity. Whatever his motives, the mayor should never have singled out the gay community when referring to an issue that is clearly not uniquely a gay problem. I am quite certain that heterosexual encounters happen in Victoria Park near Wood Street as well. It was not necessary to bring homosexuality into this in order to fix the problem.

Mayor Mills, I wish to remind you that the church, not the government, is God’s appointed agency for the moral reform of society. If you wish to be a moral reformer, I suggest you become a pastor. The mandate of government that our free society was built on is that the government must remain neutral in matters of religion and ideology. Let religions and ideas compete in an open market, and truth will ultimately prevail. External pressure, ridicule, and denunciation do not change the heart. Christianity originally exploded in ancient Rome with no help from the government whatsoever.

There is much good that a Christian statesman can do in office, by ensuring that the government remains within its proper limits and does not seek to promote atheistic or theistic ideology.

Let all Christians remember that Jesus reserved his harsh words, not for the unbelieving world, but for self-righteous religious people.

Letter: Mayor should be commended

Re: ‘Cruise Control,’ Truro Daily News, Dec. 9.

I find it hard to believe all the attention some people from the gay community want to draw to themselves. I could care less who is what. After all, is there not freedom of choice and freedom of speech?

The thing that bothers me about the whole issue is that the Victoria Park and area is supposed to be a tourist attraction in Truro for its beauty, as well as a great place for families and children to enjoy summer and winter.

It’s public knowledge that each year there are more and more drug use and deals made in the park. So we have drug activity as well as sexual activities and things should change for the innocent families and children who want to enjoy the park safely. I feel many people in Truro want to sweep things under the carpet and I commend Mayor Bill Mills for wanting this activity to be stopped in any public place.

To all you out there who want to engage in any activity that should be of a private nature, take it to your home or a motel. I wouldn’t want to see it nor would I want any children to have to be exposed to it.

This ignorant “pastor” has simply swallowed modernist philosophy and wants to disguise it as “fundamentlist Christianity”. He is obviously an evil subversive, and has no understanding of church doctrine or history. Christianity “exploded into Rome” (whatever that means) with alot of help from Roman government policy, actually:
    .
    (1) Paul’s Roman citizenship enabled him an audiance with Agippa, Felix, and Caesar.
    (2) The Edict of Milan 313 AD by Emperor Constantine enabled Christian doctrine and practice to have official legal recognition Empire-wide.
    (3) The Code of Justinian in the 500’s AD made Christian marriage and sexual morality into law as the only legal sex. (What evildoers and subversives like Jonathan Martin are now trying to pull apart and destroy.)
    .
I wouldn’t be surprized if he turned up in the Truro news as arrested for lude conduct in Victoria Park. Why else would he be using his position as a religious figure to bully the mayor into silence?
