Truro cops asked to probe mayor for hate crimes
By Mary Ellen Macintyre
TRURO – A local businessman has asked Truro police to investigate whether Mayor Bill Mills has committed a hate crime after his recent comments about gays in Victoria Park. “He has shown a pattern of using his position to promote hatred of gays, said Darryl Moir of Moir’s Costumes and Events in Truro. “Hate crimes are not permitted in this country.
Truro Police Chief Dave MacNeil confirmed Monday that a complaint had been made but said he could not comment further.
Mr. Mills has not returned calls to The Chronicle Herald since last week, when he told a reporter from the Truro Daily News that town council wanted to put a gate further away from an entrance to Victoria Park to keep gays from using the area to cruise for sex partners. “They go up and have a rendezvous and then they go into the woods and do their thing, he was quoted as saying. “It’s been known for years and years and is becoming more and more of a problem.
Mr. Moir said Monday in a telephone interview he agrees with the idea of erecting a gate. “Look, consensual sex in the privacy of your own property is fine, but if I lived up by that park, I wouldn’t want children or anyone going by and seeing anyone having sex, he said. “I totally get the mayor’s point, but he could have worded it differently. …
“I will take this all the way to the highest court in the land if I have to, Mr. Moir said.
He also said he will be moving. “The lease is up on my business and … I’m going to locate in a different community. I’m selling my house and taking my business elsewhere. “As soon as I heard what he said, I made the decision to leave, and that’s after living here for 17 years. “If he was in provincial or federal politics, he would have been fired on the spot.

The false sensitivity of this businessman is disgusting. It reflects a spirit of anti-constitutional hate and vindictiveness against Christians with a desire to crush their freedom of speech and freedom of religion. If the mayor said anything outrageous, you can be sure that the media would be all over it. Following is an earlier story, reporting on the simple concern of a mayor for the protection of his community. This businessman’s behaviour stinks of diversionary tactics. Journalists should try to find out if there’s any behaviour going on in the park that he might be trying to help protect that’s even more offensive than public sex.

Truro, N.S., town council trying to eliminate gay hookup spot in park
Canadian Press Newswire
TRURO, N.S. – Town council in this central Nova Scotia community wants to eliminate a favourite hookup spot for gay men. Truro Mayor Bill Mills said the top of Wood Street, at the entrances to Victoria Park, has long had a reputation that many in the community don’t want to speak about. “It’s a favourite pickup spot for guys from all over the Maritime provinces,” he said Tuesday. “They go up and have a rendezvous and then they go into the woods and do their thing. It’s been known for years and years and is becoming more and more of a problem.” He said the spot has been discussed on the Internet with men exchanging emails to set up times to get together. …
“A lot of families go up there, a lot of women go walking and take their dogs up there and don’t feel comfortable,” he said, adding some men have also been propositioned. “It’s embarrassing for some people, and some people, I guess, are pretty angry about it because the individuals up there are pretty bold,” he said.

The last time I checked, Canada had freedom of speech. Mr Mills only said what alot of others were thinking. I, for one, do not want to go for a walk in the park with my kids and see anybody having sex. I remember a time when men were MEN. That is just my opinion and I am entitled to it. Way to go ,Bill.

In a free world, Mr. Moir has every right to move. I would suggest he move to Siberia where the cold might keep him more occupied so he has less time to wallow in the sess pool of ignorance. This whole discussion of sodomy is an issue precisely because God — the One so many despise today, declared sodomy an abomination. God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. He instituted marriage as that of one man and one woman for life. He calls sodomy as well as prostitution and any other immorality sin. People like Mr. Moir ought to take some time to read the Bible. Then they ought to repent of their sin and be saved. I hope the mayor of this town does not back down and that others will support his desire to keep his town clean.
If Mr. Moir insists on having his way, why not charge him with legitmate hate crimes for trying to defend evil and shut down truth.

BZ to Mr. Mills. He should be commended for speaking the truth even though so many are in love with falsehood. We’re not surprised by the Chronicle Herald article.. they have long exhibited a very strong pro-homosexual bias. “Objective” journalism is a thing of the past.

I am more then pleased to hear you were Exonerated of the ridiculous charge against you by a disgruntled resident.
This may be a blessing disguise it will show that there are people in our society who well go to any length discredit the work you as the leader of a great town, a town I all-ways called the Hub of the maritime.God luck in the future, and God Bless.

Am I the only one who is wondering why, if this has been going on for YEARS, families are still taking their kids up there? Somebody’s lying.
