Relatively speaking, Quebec is an economically backward jurisdiction. Perhaps after several generations of “pastoral” living, most Quebeckers don’t know they can expect something better. It gives the radical socialist politicians the room they need to play around with sex and other distractions that keep them from doing the serious work of real governments, as noted in the Montreal Gazette Saturday in an article: “New policy to combat homophobia.” This is the kind of thing that other Canadians pay for through Canada’s “equalization” program which redistributes tax dollars from economically responsible citizens and governments to Quebec.
The Montreal Gazette reported Saturday: “The Quebec government has unveiled a set of principles as a guide to fight homophobia. The goal of this new policy is to go beyond legal equality and aim to attain social equality for sexual minorities, Justice Minister Kathleen Weil told reporters yesterday. Weil announced the creation of an inter-ministerial committee that will develop an action plan. This is expected to take about a year, she said, after which the steps will be evaluated before they are implemented. Any proposed actions will be decided in consultation with groups representing lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual community groups. ‘By creating this policy, we need the adherence of the community at large,’ Weil said. No new money is committed, but each department involved will be expected to fund the initiatives it is asked to undertake, she said.
“Among the policy’s key principles are calls for respecting the dignity of sexual minority members, eliminating discrimination and recognizing everyone’s right ‘to enjoy well-being.’ …”
