Homosexualist threat to Catholic charity in Washington, D.C.

By Tim Bloedow

The Baltimore Sun again illustrates the direct link between the homosexualist movement and radical socialism.

The best Christian position on charity is that the state has no legitimate function to play in stealing from Peter to pay Paul. But even if one doesn’t hold to that position, intellectually serious Christians know that the family and the church and voluntary social networks – not the state – should be the dominant forces for charity.

Those who see the state as having the primary role in providing charitable help – the social welfare state – are socialists. Those who see the state has having the exclusive role in charity are fanatics for socialism or totalitarianism.

In Washington, D.C., the Catholic archdiocese has threatened to end its charitable work in the city – the work of Catholic Charities – if homosexual “marriage” rights are passed and the state tries to force Catholic Charities to extend employee benefits to homosexual “married” couples. If this happens, homosexualists will be to blame for terminating important charitable aid to the needy. Some dishonest homosexualist radicals, including Washington Post writer Petula Dvorak, are accusing the Catholic church of holding the poor hostage.

The Baltimore Sun weighed in on the side of homosexual perversion at the expense of constitutionally recognized freedom of religion. And in doing so, they made a very interesting statement: “This conflict also points out a limitation of the government’s habit of relying on outside groups to provide social services. Those who argue for government to play a smaller role in establishing the social safety net often note the ability of private charities to pick up the slack. But as this situation makes clear, organizations that choose to do so can also choose to stop.”

The Baltimore Sun is confessing to an extremist advocacy for socialism; for rigid state-ist control over “charity,” which is always part of a broader view of state-ist control over the economy and life in general.

The B.S. – a fitting acronym – is also teaching us an important point, which is repeatedly made in the controversy over homosexuality, and that is that economic, social and governmental “liberalism” are all part of the same package – and so are economic, social and governmental conservatism. Anyone who claims to be an economic conservative, but not a social conservative, is philosophically illiterate. Logically consistent advocates of homosexuality are strident state-ists. “Conservative” homosexuals are bizarre exceptions – quaint curiosities – and they will always be only the tiniest of minorities among homosexuals.

There are a number of reasons for this. The B.S. illustrates but one in a very dramatic fashion in their editorial on the Washington, D.C. war between homosexualist fanatics and the Catholic Charities.

Truly the Catholic Church has a larger problem with it’s own clergy that are gay. The hierarchy knew and should have dealt with this issue many years ago and did not. If this denomination has any desire of surviving the next century they need to rid their own leadership of homosexual deviants who molest children. This is the supposed Church that Christ founded? I think not!
