“Gangster government at its worst” – Obamacare

Tony Perkins’ Washington Update
These Voters Make House Calls

If House members won’t come to the mountain, then Republicans will bring the mountain of voters to them. As part of an eleventh hour push to block the health care bill, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), FRC Action and other allies mobilized a massive rally on the Capitol steps this afternoon which sent voters scattering through their congressmen’s offices. “[H.R. 3962] is a trillion-dollar, budget-busting, government takeover of our health care system… This is gangster government at its worst.” Together with Reps. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) and Tom Price (R-Ga.), she urged everyone to make their way to the Hill before the House crams their overhaul down America’s throat this Saturday during a special weekend vote. A huge crowd started converging on the National Mall early this morning to do exactly that. A multitude of voters turned out – anxious to hear from actor Jon Voight, talk show host Mark Levin, and others like me who have been in the thick of the fight from the very beginning.

As I told the crowd today, PelosiCare, ObamaCare – whatever you call it – this isn’t a prescription to improve America’s health care. This is a transfusion of taxpayer money into financially troubled organizations like Planned Parenthood. Unfortunately, more problems from the bill’s 2,000 pages are still trickling out- including news from the Heritage Foundation that Democrats have buried a cushy $6 billion slush fund deep in the plan to bribe members who are still undecided. Dennis Smith, the expert who exposed the earmark, says it “suddenly appeared” after the Energy and Commerce Committee finished its work this fall.

According to the Washington Examiner, the money would be “doled out by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, with no input from the states, ordinary rulemaking, or administrative review. Of course, Pelosi made a promise back in 2006 to wean the House from pork projects. Columnist Barbara Hollingsworth scoffed at the idea. “You call a $6 billion slush fund draining the swamp?” For more see my entire message here.
