Atheist advertising goes global

Atheists are mounting a global advertising campaign to promote their cause.  It started in Britain, with ads on the side of buses proclaiming “There is probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.”
A group in Toronto is trying to raise funds to put on a similar campaign, and they’re hoping to spread the message to other major Canadian cities like Vancouver and Montreal by the end of the year.  In Washington and New York, the same campaign took on a slightly different form over the Christmas period, with bus billboards urging people to “be good for goodness’ sake”.
In Italy, a billboard company has refused to take the atheists’ money for a campaign featuring the slogan “The bad news is that God does not exist. The good news is that we do not need him.”   That slogan is featured on a number of busses in major cities in the country including in Rome, where it has has been roundly condemned by the Vatican.
The British campaign has also created some controversy for the state-run transit company.  A 62-year old driver for First Bus in Southampton is refusing to drive busses that feature the messages.  So far, his managers have accomodated him by giving him other busses in the fleet.

No one has any proof that God exists or doesn’t exist. People in both camps are expressing their belief. Human nature is to believe in one thing or another, even on the issue of God. God does not punish either; rather, He is patient, loving and wise.
The lifespan of believing and denying regimes is one way to compare.: Great religions have lasted thousands of years, while athiest Communist regimes lived a scant 70, or 45 years. Hitler predicted a thousand year regime, but fell short by 988 years. Deniers of God tend toward intoxicants (alcohol, drugs, etc), theft, murder, lies and lust. Those who believe in God tend toward honesty, hard work, charity, kindness and virtue. This brings them, in the long run, happiness, fulfillment and victory in life. People can predict whatever, but to make it work is anther matter.

  2. And why should we express any more outrage at these advertisements when, in fact, they are merely the MOST obvious of thousands of ads that deny God (and His righteousness) every day? From lottery commercials which propagandize that God is NOT one’s hope (or provision), to “thrilling” Grand Theft-Auto entertainment, to bleary-eyed political masses looking like only the newest President can fulfill their life-long dreams, it’s just one protracted series of flesh-oriented, “without God” (atheistic) messages.

Compared to what actually bombards and desensitizes us a thousand times a day, these cheesy billboards are a joke!
